Case of polyploidy where an entire genome has been duplicated. Chromosome number increases from 2n to 4n. Following such events, gene content is fractionated as the genome is diploidized.

SynMap self-self comparison of scaffold assembly of Nelumo nuclifera. Syntenic dotplot shows extensive self-self synteny that covers the entire genome to a syntenic depth of 1:1. This is evidence that the genome was duplicated 2n=>4n. Results may be regenerated at: http://genomevolution.org/r/4p9u
