Annotations are the information associated with a genomic feature. These will often describe a genomic feature:
- method of detection (e.g. automated prediction or experimental detection)
- functional information
- sub-cellular usage
- external factors that contribute to its specific cellular usage (e.g. "induced in response to stimulus")
- unique attributes (e.g. "repeat sequence occurring XXX times in the genome")
