Aug 29, 2024:

CoGe is functional again. The Data Center where CoGe is housed had a small fire (not sure what that means) and power was cut to all servers. While they were all brought back up, the timing of servers coming online had the main CoGe server coming up before its data storage server. This broke all tools in CoGe that needed to access its data store. CoGe's OS is out of date to the point where it no longer can communicate with CyVerse's LDAP server that allows me (Eric L.) to log in. This resulted in a long process to get access with the help of Andy E. from CyVerse so I could get the data storage server mounted correctly. As always, a major thank you to Andy for his help!

A knock on consequence of this is that while I have tried to keep CoGe updated, running, and supported, it is time to shut it down. Brief history: I made CoGe while a graduate student with the first alpha release in 2006 and the first public release in 2008 (publications). CoGe is now 16 years old and has been supported by a vareity of grants from NSF and one from the USDA. That support has always been to provide services to other projects -- not running the public CoGe server. It has been a blast building and running CoGe, and in the process, getting the chance to meet many amazing students, educators, and scientists.

But all good things come to an end. I'll do my best to keep CoGe going for the rest of the year, but make plans for it turning off in Jan 2025. For everyone who has worked on CoGe over the years, thank you. For everyone who has used CoGe, thanks for your support and glad you found it useful.
