TinyURLs are a transformation of a long URL into one that is small. Such small URLs are much easier to copy, paste into notes, and use in publications. They are used extensively in CoGe to regenerate an analysis or set of data.

Example: http://genomevolution.org/r/3v8n for http://genomevolution.org/CoGe/GenomeList.pl?dsgid=5882,5883,5893,12180,5885,893
